Spain is a country where people not only enjoy, but respect good food. This culinary discovery is meant for the true lovers of the "buen Yantar" or "art of eating well." We recommend this tour to the aficionado who knows his or her way around the kitchen. Under the direction of the distinguished Chef Martinez-Soto, who has cooked for kings and heads of state, you will have 3 full lessons on Spanish gastronomy. The excellence of Spanish gastronomy can be tasted in every region of Spain, but the north is one of the richest. This culinary discovery will show you some of the fabulous recipes of the northern part of Spain, as well as top wines from the regions of Rioja and Ribera.
Arrive in the historic city of Burgos, the ancient capital of Spain. Transfer from the train station to your hotel, across from the Gothic cathedral. Tonight meet your host and guide for dinner at one of the best restaurants in the city..
Castilla - Cooking Lesson 1. Today you will be introduced to the typical Castillian cuisine. You will learn to make dishes from the region and will enjoy them afterwards, accompanied by regional wines. The rest of the afternoon and evening you are free to explore this beautiful, old city.
Wine Tasting in Haro, La Rioja. - Travel to the town of Haron in the region of Rioja, renowned worldwide for its wines. In Haro, you'll go to the famous "barrio de la estacion" where bodegas line the street. Tour one of the centuries-old wineries and taste the legendary Rioja wine. Return to Burgos. Meet for dinner at El Meson del Cid, a locally-known restaurant and one of the best in Burgos.
Cooking Lesson 2 in Burgo de Osma - Today you'll travel to the beautiful and quaint city of Burgo de Osma, where you will stay at the Hotel Virrey Palafox. Explore the town on your own and meet in the early afternoon for your second cooking lesson of Castillian cuisine. Dinner is on your own... that is, if you still have room!
Visit to Ribera Winery and Cooking Lesson 3 - Today you'll visit one of the multiple wineries of the region of La Ribera del Duero, second to none in production of quality wines in Spain. You'll return to Burgo de Osma and have a third cooking lesson in the afternoon. The evening is free.
Segovia - Visit the city of Segovia, where you'll see the ancient Roman aqueduct, that is over 2000 years old and still towers over parts of the city, the distinct Alcazar and the imposing Gothic cathedral. Lunch is on your own in Segovia. Return to Burgos de Osma, where you will enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner of Castillian dishes.
