Shallot's Cooking School Closes
June 2008 - Tony & Lisa Sierra loved to teach cooking classes at Shallot's Cooking School in Vacaville, California. Everyone had a great time tasting the food and wines. Unfortunately, Nugget Market decided to close Shallot's at the end of May. We miss it, as I'm sure many of you who live nearby do as well.
You'll find recipes that we've taught in the past posted on http://spanishfood.about.com, including seafood paella, chicken stew with white wine and mushrooms, flan and red wine sorbet to name a few. When we find a new cooking school, we'll post the class schedule here.

Culinary Discoveries Joins the
International Culinary Tourism Association (ICTA)
May 2004 - The International Culinary Tourism Association (ICTA), based in Portland, Oregon brings together hotel, food establishments and tour operators to promote the most exciting kind of tourism yet - culinary tourism! Culinary Discoveries has joined the ICTA and will be organizing the Sacramento chapter later this year.
Culinary Tourism is a type of cultural tourism and focuses specifically on the enjoyment of prepared food and drink. Culinary Tourism promotes all unique and memorable gastronomic experiences. It does not have to be those establishments that have earned 4 stars or better. Only recently recognized, "Culinary Tourism" is an important niche that fosters economic and community development and new cultural understanding.
Because Culinary Discoveries believes that culinary or gastronomic tourism is really a cultural exchange, we wanted to make sure to belong to an association that promotes this kind of activity. The ICTA, based in Oregon is truly international and current membership includes over 400 members from 19 countries.
Another Culinary Discovery Happened April 17th!
